Having Pool Issues Around the Fourth, But You Aren’t Sure Why?

It seems like the Fourth of July “begins” earlier every year. With a full week before the special day, fireworks are going off all over the city. But what happens when the ash from the fireworks gets in your pool? Are you finding that your water is a little out of control around June 28-July 5? We can help!

Are you having pool issues around the Fourth, but you aren’t quite sure why? You may have water care problems for several reasons, and we look at them here.

You Have Fireworks Ash in Your Pool

Even if you weren’t shooting fireworks at your house, debris such as ash can travel many miles from your neighbors. So, even if you didn’t have fireworks in your driveway, you may need to clean up your pool anyway.

If fireworks debris gets into your pool (whether you can see it or not), it must be vacuumed or filtered out. The chemicals in the ash can also cause problems. For example, your pH might rise, which isn’t good for your pool.

You also want to filter and vacuum your pool, test the water, and then treat it appropriately. Don’t take any shortcuts here if you want to clean up your pool water.

It’s also a good idea to hose down your pool deck with your garden hose. This will keep swimmers from tracking in debris and ash.

Even if your pool looks clean, remember that ash can travel. You should test your water for phosphates and nitrates. You can’t see them, but they will cause issues with your pool chemistry.

Use BioGuard Pool Complete 911

Pool Complete 911 can also help! It’s the perfect clarifier and phosphate remover.

We love this clarifier as it gets rid of filth from heavy pool usage. Moreover, it also has a filter aid and enzymes, so it can help clean your water from all the sunscreen, oils, and pool ash.
